A jute beaut.
These rugs and your floors? They’re a match made in heaven. Each doormat and runner you see is knitted from thick, natural jute fiber—perfect for wood and tiled areas—with a soft weave that’s a treat even for bare feet. And those charcoal hues? *Swoon.* Let’s not forget about how all these gems got here, either. They were made by hand in India using Fair Trade practices (you bet your boots). Now, to decide: Hallway, kitchen, or laundry room...or all three?

Meet the Maker
Armadillo & Co.
New York, NY
The Armadillo & Co story started in 2009 with two women, Jodie Fried and Sally Pottharst, who dreamed of elevating age-old methods of rug craftsmanship through a contemporary design process. Every rug they make is crafted by hand using Fair Trade practices, from sustainable materials that are designed to last and last. (We can attest—we’ve had one of their beautiful floor coverings in our office for, well, a *long* time.)

Beautiful but very thick
This rug is beautiful and well made. If you are putting this in front of a door, make sure you measure the thickness.

Well made, not gray
These are very nice quality, but they are definitely and completely black not the nice warm gray pictured. I have a black and white dog so black carpet is not good. Gray carpet would have been perfect!
Graphic pop
What you might not deduce from the picture is how well this will look in your mid-century modern. Or how it adds interest next to any piece of black furniture. Sturdy, eco, and preventing child labor, what’s not to love? High traffic areas in my house will never be the same; I’ve ordered two more.
